We live on the south west coast of WA – about 100 km south of Perth – on about 10 acres of natural bush.  We’ve established a large garden around our house, but have had enormous problems with possums coming in and destroying our roses and fruit trees by eating off all the new leaves.

We heard about the ShuRoo StrayBan units last year, and initially tried two to see how effective they are.  We used one on a mulberry tree and a mango tree – both of which were being systematically destroyed by possums.  We found that it worked immediately, and in a few weeks both trees had recovered and had begun to resume normal growth.  We put the other one in our stone fruit orchard, and this also appeared effective, with no further damage to new leaves.  We now have six units in operation, including coverage of our rose garden which now appears to be essentially free of possum damage.

The units have been a highly satisfactory alternative to all previous attempts to control possums, which included continual spraying, and trapping and relocation of the creatures.

I'm very happy with your product. I've seen no signs of cats in my back garden since I installed it and next door's cat isn't on my front drive much anymore either. This cat [and maybe others] used to jump onto my roof from the front garden wall and cross over to the back. This activated the front security lights, but this isn't happening much now either, so it looks like I've got the result I wanted.

Here in Sydney, I have had my StrayBan possum deterrent for a couple of months now and I’m very pleased with the results. It protects my delicate bonsai plants that were having the new spring shoots eaten as soon as they appeared and from the accompanying damage of broken branches, broken as the possum climbed, destroying years of training.

I was concerned that my pet cat would be upset by the noise that the unit makes, but she is not the least affected –just as the makers say there is no noise to annoy neighbours all you hear is a slight ‘clicking’ noise that tells you the machine is working. I will be putting another unit up to protect my Magnolias, camellias and Maples in the main garden now that I know how well they work.

Living in the Blue Mountains we have been having a constant battle trying to deter possums and various local rodents from taking up residence in our home. I had tried several solutions including poison bait and fitting a flood light in the roof but nothing was totally effective and we were continually wakened by the patter of tiny feet above the ceiling as these intruders went about their nocturnal business.

A neighbour recommended StrayBan having fitted one to his eave to deter stray cats. After receiving mine via easy purchase over the web, I attached it to the inside of a gable, about 0.5m above the ceiling. From the instructions on the pack, it looked as though the beam sweep would cover about 50% of the area so I wondered if one unit would be enough.

Fears seemed confirmed when our visitors returned a couple of times over the next few days although the scurrying was untypically brief. But after that....nothing...we haven't heard from them in the six subsequent weeks. I leave the unit on 24/7 but maybe this isn't necessary. However I'm so pleased with the result, I'm sticking with this policy!

Hi all at ShuRoo

Just a quick email to say thanks for the StrayBan.

The possums were driving us mad prior to installing the StrayBan.

For the last 18mths since we installed the StrayBan, we have experienced no problems unless the plug is accidentally pulled from the power point and then within a day, they are back in the ceiling.  As soon as we plug the unit back in, the possums are gone.

Have just referred you onto my father who is involved in a rowing club who have a problem with possums.

Thanks again!
