Q. How does StrayBan work?

A. StrayBan consists of a unique computerised speaker device which emits a rotating ultrasonic frequency. As the frequencies change, it effectively creates sound pressure level changes, causing discomfort that makes wandering dogs move on.

Q. Why are straying dogs so susceptible to StrayBan?

A. Dogs are very territorial. Once out of there own environment, they are very wary and easily made uncomfortable, tuning in to their high frequency as an alert to danger. StrayBan uses this natural alert system to disturb the dog enough for it to avoid the area of StrayBan protection.

Q. Will StrayBan harm dogs?

A. No. The sounds do not cause dogs any ill health. The discomfort will simply cause them to move away from the protected area.

Q. Will dogs get used to the sound?

No. StrayBan offers long term protection due to the unique rotating sound wave pattern that animals do not get used to.

Q. What about my dog (or cat)?

A. StrayBan is designed for wandering dogs or cats that tune in to their high frequency as an alert to danger. You’re own animals will hear the signal, but are secure in their own territory and simply tune out. If they do experience any discomfort they will simply avoid the sound pattern.

Q. Can Humans hear StrayBan?

A. No. The ultrasonic sound waves are inaudible to humans. A soft clicking noise is produced simply to allow you to check that the StrayBan unit is functioning.

Q. What area will StrayBan cover?

A. The area of protection is 10 metres in front of the speaker and 5 metres above, below and 10 metres to both sides of the speaker. Imagine the high frequency sound being emitted by StrayBan as a beam of light from a torch - anything that is illuminated by the light is protected, but any shadows created by objects in its path are not. Allow a clear line of sight to the protected area. If you need to protect a larger area, you will require extra StrayBan units.

Q. Is it expensive to run StrayBan?

A. No. StrayBan uses 12VDC and is supplied with a 240V to 12V step down regulated transformer. It will use approximately 180ma per hour.

Q. Will it affect other animals?

A. Yes. Possums and wandering cats will be affected by StrayBan.
